This calendar is updated with the most current bell schedule information as well as events happening during the school day.  It will also contain an updated lunch schedule.

Two Hour Delay Schedule

In the event of inclement weather, the district may place the district on a delayed schedule.

When reviewing this delay plan, please consider any special arrangements that may apply to your family and/or your child.  These may include areas such as child care, time of lunch and snacks.  Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this snow delay plan.  We will continue to keep our fingers crossed for a snow free winter!  Remember, for the most up to date information on school closings or delays, visit the district website at www.masonohioschools.com.

Student Parking

Students who drive to school are expected to purchase a parking permit.  Parking passes are sold throughout the year requiring a valid driver’s license at the time of purchase.  Applications are available online. School fees must be paid prior to purchasing a permit. The parking rate for the school year will be as follows:

Permits:     $50.00

Students must display a parking permit and the student code of conduct applies to the parking lot areas. 

Students found parking without a permit, in an unassigned area/spot, or failing to display their permit are subject to disciplinary action. (Note: This includes the staff area of Mason Middle School and Mason Intermediate School).  

Improper Vehicle Operation: Students operating their vehicles in an unsafe manner will have their parking privileges suspended or revoked and be subject to the appropriate traffic citation.

Note:  There are no refunds for parking once the pass has been purchased (this includes early graduates.)  Parking passes are non-transferable; registration is student specific and passes may not be given or sold to another student.

New students will connect with a school counselor to review records, graduation requirements, and create a class schedule. To help make the scheduling process as smooth and efficient as possible, we strongly encourage students and families to review the resources below prior to the initial counselor meeting.

When choosing courses, students should consider graduation requirements, athletic and NCAA eligibility, course rigor, and maintaining a healthy academic balance. 

While counselors do their best to place students in their requested courses, please be aware that placement depends on course availability and scheduling constraints.

It is the responsibility of the student and family to be knowledgeable about the graduation requirements and plan coursework that allows them to meet those requirements. The high school will make every effort to keep up-to-date records and to inform the student and parents about the student’s progress toward the completion of graduation requirements.  Ensuring that students meet graduation requirements is an important goal for all of our students and requires a partnership between the high staff, students, and parents.  All of the graduation requirements can be found on the Ohio Department of Education Website.

Credit Requirements

End-of-Course State Testing Requirements

Classes of 2023 and Beyond - Students will take end-of-course tests in Algebra I, Geometry, English II (ELA II), American History, American Government, and Biology and must earn a passing score (684) on Algebra I and English II (ELA II) tests. Students who do not pass will be offered additional support and must retake the test at least once. In the event a student does not earn a 684 or higher, the student will work with their School Counselor to develop a plan based upon the guidelines set forth by the Ohio Department of Education.

Graduation Seals Requirements 

In addition to End of Course State testing requirements, students in the classes of 2023 and beyond must also earn at least two Graduation Seals. There are two categories: State-Defined and Locally-Defined. Students must earn at least one State-Defined seal with the other from either category. Four Year Plan

The Four Year Plan is designed to be a rough draft of a student's high school career. Changes to the plan each year are very common as interests and academic achievements progress. Students are encouraged to update this plan as often as needed, with a minimum of at least once a year which takes place during the scheduling process. All plans are completed in SchooLinks, our online counseling tool.

Honors Diploma

High school students can gain state recognition for exceeding Ohio’s graduation requirements through an honors diploma. Students challenge themselves by taking and succeeding at high-level coursework and in real-world experiences.

Ohio students have the opportunity to choose to pursue one of six honors diplomas:

1. Academic Honors Diploma
2. International Baccalaureate Honors Diploma
3. Career Tech Honors Diploma
4. STEM Honors Diploma
5. Arts Honors Diploma*
6. Social Science and Civic Engagement Honors Diploma 

*includes dance, drama/theater, music and visual art.

Through the CCP program, students take college courses at an Institution of Higher Education (IHE) that meets their learning goals, needs, and where they are able to meet the IHE’s college readiness benchmarks.  Students can also participate in the CCP program on the MHS campus where CCP courses are offered by IHE faculty.  Students are still required to meet the participating IHE’s college readiness benchmarks to participate in the course on the MHS campus.

Credit Flexibility ("Credit Flex") is a student-driven opportunity that allows learners in grades 7–12 to earn high school graduation credits through alternative methods outside of traditional classroom “seat time.” Instead of focusing on hours spent in class, Credit Flex emphasizes learning, mastery, and real-world application.

This program is designed to maximize engagement by offering:

• Nontraditional Paths: Earn credit outside the standard classroom structure
• Real-World Experiences: Internships, field experiences, and community-based learning
• Personalized Learning: Plans built around your goals, interests, and needs
• Demonstrated Mastery: Show what you know through projects, portfolios, and assessments

Credit Flex provides flexibility, but it also requires a high level of independence. Students are responsible for planning, completing, and meeting all requirements and deadlines associated with their chosen path. Families are responsible for any costs associated with Credit Flex.

MasonConnects is Mason City Schools’ centralized family and student information platform. It provides access to important school information such as schedules, report cards, assessment results, announcements, and student records in one convenient location. Families can use MasonConnects to stay informed, monitor student progress, and easily connect with school resources throughout the year.

• Go to https://masonconnects.me
• Click Sign In as Parent
  • Choose which method you would like to use to sign-in using Microsoft, Facebook or Google. You will need the password to the account you wish to use to login, if you don’t have one of these accounts you can create a Gmail or Microsoft email. 
    • Create a Google Account or Create a Microsoft Email if you do not have an email address.
• Once logged in you will see the home page and announcements
• Click the + sign in the upper right-hand corner to add a student
• Enter this access code (also called a token) and click Verify
• Repeat the process to add any additional children
• Click on the three horizontal lines and click Students
• Here you’ll find schedule information, contact information, assessments, and plans

Having trouble or don't have a MasonConnects token? Email support@masonohioschools.com and include your child's email address. To expedite the request, send the email from the email address registered to your student.

Schoology is an online learning management system used to support communication and classroom learning throughout the school year. Students use Schoology to:

• Access class materials and resources
• Submit assignments online
• View grades and teacher feedback
• Participate in class discussions
• Stay informed about assignments, deadlines, and announcements

Students can log in through Google, using their MCS email and password. 

Parents/guardians can also access Schoology using their own account.

SchooLinks is a college and career readiness platform designed to help students plan for life after high school. Students can use SchooLinks to explore career interests, research colleges and career pathways, build resumes, track graduation requirements, and complete college application tasks. The platform also helps students connect with their school counselors and stay organized throughout the college and career planning process.

Students can log in to SchooLinks through Google, using their MCS email and password.

Because we believe in educating the whole child at Mason High School, we provide a wide range of learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Students who participate in extracurricular activities tend to do better academically. Clubs also give students the opportunity to work with peers and build lifelong friendships, develop problem-solving and leadership skills, strengthen self-esteem, and learn new things in a fun environment. Joining a club also gives students a chance to explore their interests and talents.
